This is a post of beautiful things. A variety of things that share a common theme, they are beautiful. Beauty takes many forms, art is an obvious example. Art in writing, photography, painting, or dance. Some are less obvious, things like compassion, a late-night view of the sky. I have trouble watching or reading the news because it is filled with unpleasant, horrifying, and depressing things. Every once in awhile there will be a “positive” story thrown in, but the focus is usually on the terrible events around us. It takes effort to focus on things that are not unpleasant. They are harder to create and harder to see. I have just a few examples here. I hope they help brighten your day.
Some music to begin with.
The recent Perseid meteor shower.
One of my favorite poems.
She Walks in Beauty
By Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
Human connection in a dance.
